Wow.. it is already December!

..and on the news they say it is snowing in my old hometown in Sweden. Brrrr, cold!, and how beautiful at the same time.
I feel lucky to live in sunny San Francisco, California where it’s not too warm or too cold. This is what we call “lagom” (perfectly in between) in Swedish.

Traditionally I serve “glögg” (mulled wine) during our HOLIDAY PARTY AND ART SHOW, sadly this year due to Covid we will not have any food inside. This tradition will have to wait until next year.

Though!, we are still having our Holiday Party and it is happening this Sunday, December 5th. PLEASE, come and visit us, show your support and have fun. There are art for sale, great ideas for gifts, food vendor and live music.

Editing and selecting images for print, it is an exciting time as I am preparing for our open studio on October 23 & 24 at the shipyard. 😀
After a year of lockdown we are once more ready to open our doors to the public. We are excited and energized!
I am crossing my fingers that covid cases stays low and ‘under control’ so we can keep open up our city and state to the world.

Water – an exhibit of contemporary art

Aug 1st, 2020 to April 25th, 2021
Vesterheim, National Norwegian-American Museum www.Vesterheim.org

Water explores our world’s most essential natural resource as a source of survival, life, and livelihoods. Nineteen contemporary artists with Nordic 5 Arts have created works that respond to the theme of water. Some artists reflect on immigrant journeys by ship or plane across the Atlantic Ocean. Others reflect on the state of water in the face of climate change and the relationship between the Nordic countries and water.

Nordic 5 Arts was founded by Kati Casida in 1993. Nordic 5 Arts is an international organization of professional artists based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Nordic 5 Arts presents a unique Nordic/Scandinavian expression in the visual arts and contributes to the diversity of the arts in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
The organization also promotes ties with contemporary Nordic arts, culture, and design. Nordic 5 Arts is composed of professional artists, primarily of Nordic/Scandinavian descent and artists born in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Nordic 5 Arts is open to all artists and supporters of the arts with a connection to, or appreciation of, Nordic expression in the arts.

Appreciation for the moment.

I believe 2 months of shelter-in-place has changed a lot of how we as a society behave and how we think about our future. To relax and move anxiety towards a more positive state of mind I went to my studio a lot. I am lucky to have my own studio where I could shelter safely 🙂

I decided to play and experiment with ideas that I have had for a long time. Finally I began with all these new projects I’ve been dreaming about. It was liberating! I brought out some paint from my storage, amazing and fun colors, to do monoprints. I had collected leaves of course as it is one of my passions to photograph.

the fun is to begin..
Oh, I love these colors.. this blue green quickly became a favorite of mine.

I have so much to learn from my painter friends! Like… how to perhaps have a simple vision beforehand because when the paint is down on the paper you can’t really photoshop it away or desaturate parts of it. Hahaha!
Well, that’s what learning is all about.

not really done yet.. some more colors perhaps?
